Sky (Sky Broadband) has begun rewarding customers of their 4G and 5G powered Sky Mobile plans with 1 GigaByte of free data (mobile broadband) each time England, Scotland and Wales score a goal throughout the UEFA Euro 2020 (2021) football tournament.
The new promotion actually launched last week, just before the tournament itself kicked off, although we didn’t spot it until now because Sky had opted to hide it inside an otherwise fairly uninteresting consumer survey. But in order to benefit, customers first need to register by visiting https://www.sky.com/shop/pre-reg/back-of-the-net.
After that, Sky Mobile will add the relevant 1GB data boosts to your Sky Piggybank (normally this holds unused data that has been rolled over from prior months), subject to the number of goals scored by the home teams. Thanks to recent goals by England and Wales, that means there should already be 2GB of extra data available (Scotland wasn’t so lucky).
Paul Sweeney, MD of Sky Mobile, said:
“After waiting for an entire year for this tournament to take place, we hope our free data boost for Sky Mobile customers can go some way in bringing fans together to cheer on football finally coming home.”
The nature of football means that this is probably a fairly safe promotion for Sky Mobile to run, and you can of course insert your own puns about how big such a football piggy bank is ever likely to get 🙂 . The next opportunity for a free data boost will come tomorrow, when Wales play Turkey, which is to be followed on Friday by the match between England and Scotland (awkward..).
This could be expensive for them as you can swap data for credit.
Strange the opt in requires all of the details rather than doing it through a page off sky accounts.
Credit that you can only spend to buy marked-up items. Nah, it won’t get out of hand, and their T&Cs will say they can stop it at anytime
No fear of any of the teams scoring especially Scotland.
Wise marketing move.
As spurple said T&C’s will put a cap on any nonsense.
Scotland had 19 shots, 4 on target and hit the bar and post. They were unlucky not to score.
It’s also on valid on maximum of 1 mobile per account, so even if you registered 4 numbers you will only get 1GB per goal and not 4GB
Seems to be a competition rather than a giveaway as it states “to win.”
I’ve registered and not received anything yet.
Not had anything yet. Registered at the start of the tournament. How many goals have England, Scotland and Wales scored so far? 12?!
Do you only have to register once?
