Hull-based alternative network operator MS3, which is busy building a new 10Gbps capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband ISP network to serve over 500,000 premises across the North of England (here), has today appointed the former COO of O2, Derek McManus, to be its new Chairman (effective from 1st April 2022).
Mr McManus, who has 34 years’ of experience in the telecommunications industry, joins the company at a time when it is on a huge recruitment drive to support their network expansion – having already added a number of experienced additions to its senior management team in recent months, including CEO Guy Miller, CTO Chris Byrd and the Director of Delivery, Stuart Bamber.
The new Chairman said: “I am delighted to be joining MS3 Networks as its Chair. They are an extremely fast-growing network builder and I am excited to be a part of the extremely bright future here as we substantially increase the pace of our fibre roll-out to the many underserved homes across the North of England.”

The network expansion work has already begun in Hull, primarily around the HU4 (postcode) areas, and MS3 said that they expect to see over 1,000 homes in the city being “added to the network footprint each week in 2022.”
I read “underserved homes of the north of England” as “undeserved…” interesting appointment and one I’ll be watching closely.
