Vodafone Gift All UK Customers 24 Hours of Free Unlimited Data

Mobile operator Vodafone UK has announced that all of their consumer customers (including those on Pay As You Go, Pay Monthly and even VOXI plans) will be able to benefit from 24 hours of free unlimited data on Sunday 26th June 2022, which is intended to mark the UK’s first ever “Celebration Day” event.

Celebration Day is a new annual event that is intended to encourage people to celebrate the loved ones who are no longer with us. In reality, it’ll probably pass without most people even knowing it existed, much like so many of the other special event ‘Days’ that have magicked themselves into existence over the past few years. But practical gestures, like the one Vodafone are making, could help to change that.

NOTE: Admittedly, it’s not quite “all customers“, since business customers will not be eligible for obvious reasons.

Customers will automatically receive free UK data from 00:00 till 23:59 on Sunday 26th June 2022. Naturally, this is only applicable for data to be used within the UK, and is not applicable to be used for roaming. Obviously, if you’re already on a plan with unlimited data, then there will simply be no change for you.

Max Taylor, Consumer Director at Vodafone UK, said:

“Taking time out of our busy lives to remember and celebrate those who are no longer with us is really important, especially after what has been an incredibly challenging two years. Celebration Day is the perfect opportunity for people to connect with loved ones to celebrate those who they have lost and we’re happy to be able to make that connection easier for our customers.”

However, it’s a small detail, but the operator does warn that customers with a network session open prior to the commencement of the offer, which continues into the offer period (e.g. watching a YouTube stream or downloading a large file), may not benefit from the offer until a new session is started. “Eligible customers may start a new network session by restarting the device or switching airplane mode on and off,” said Vodafone (not strictly necessary, but they’re playing it safe with this advice).

    “Celebration Day” = “Pornhub Day”

    Celebration Day = “Buffering…”

Knowing them it’s probably the unlimited lite meaning capped at 2mbts speed.

Cynical old me thought this was in fact a user led exercise to stress test their network!

Reminds me of when BT did a few “free calls for all weekender” back in the late 90’s. They just wanted to stress test System X and their new fibre interconnects between exchanges.

That’s good as I’m having to wait 2 weeks for a bloody FTTC line.

That’ll be an Openreach delay, not Vodafone (or every other carrier that uses the BT system)

“Celebration Day is a new annual event that is intended to encourage people to celebrate the loved ones who are no longer with us.” Sorry but I can’t see how this is related to unlimited data for 24h.

Not that I have asked for it but Voxi have been giving me unlimited data for coming up to a month now (recently switched to them).

Is your SIM in a phone? or router? thanks

    2. Avatar photo Craig says:

It’s in an iPhone – why?

From my testing with Voxi, my data use is still coming out of my allowance so this doesn’t seem to be working for me. Rebooted my phone this morning too.

Would have thought VF would have sent a message out to their customers of this if they wanted to make an impact from a marketing perspective!

How are nice the travel if they are so slow you can’t even use it.
