New customers joining UK ISP Sky Broadband may like to know that the provider has adopted an 18-month “price freeze” on their Openreach based (FTTC + FTTP) superfast, ultrafast and gigafast broadband packages (including some TV bundles), which removes the usual mid-contract price hikes.
Unlike most of the other major providers, Sky Broadband doesn’t adopt price hikes that are directly linked to the rate of inflation, but they do still tend to introduce annual increases and the last round were announced in February (for introduction to bills in April) – here. But the average increase announced in February 2022 was only around 5%, which was well below the hikes being introduced by many of their closest rivals at the time.
The good news is that Sky’s current broadband packages for new customers are now being offered alongside an 18-month price freeze – covering their entire first contract term. As usual, new customers can expect to receive the Sky Hub (SR203 / Hub 4.2) router, parental controls, nuisance call filtering, unlimited usage on an 18-month contract term, Sky’s Speed Guarantee and their soft “Wall to Wall WiFi Guarantee” (i.e. money back if performance falls below a certain level).

Otherwise, Sky’s package prices haven’t changed much, ranging from £25 per month for their 35Mbps tier (£35.50 after 18-months) to £52 per month for their 900Mbps package (£60 thereafter). However, the small print reveals that the price freeze is a time-limited promotion that will only be available for orders made before 29th September 2022.
They may think this is a good sales ploy but how about all those existing Sky customers without the price freeze.
How do I get hold of sky to discuss broadband deals ?
