The annual Broadband Genie 2024 Awards survey has just named UK ISP YouFibre, which harnesses Netomnia’s growing full fibre network, as the “Best Provider” of the year, while a variety of other internet service providers also scooped various other awards across several different categories.
The results are partly based off a survey of 2,662 broadband bill payers (conducted between 28th September 2023 – 8th February 2024), as well as an analysis of 413,723 broadband speed tests that were run between 1st January 2023 to 31st January 2024. The Best Social Tariff award was separately chosen by a team of Broadband Genie’s judges.
In terms of the speed award, little known provider Brillband ended up being named as the “Fastest Provider” for 2024 after delivering an average download speed of 532Mbps, which was followed by runners-up Fibrecast (403Mbps) and Gigabit Networks (375Mbps). But Virgin Media was named as the “Fastest Widely Available Provider“.

A summary of the headline results can be found below, although one oddity is that several of the broadband categories include mobile networks and satellite services, which are very different platforms that would normally deserve their own separate categories.

How does YouFibre lose to brillband for fastest provider
I wouldn’t worry too much James. These are all made up awards
These trade awards ceremonies are to be taken with a very large pinch of salt.
@James, well duh if course they are made up, its all made up
Is it because they offer 10gbps symmetric broadband with a decent asus router axe16000, and their gigabit symmetric is £5 cheaper per month than brillband and no price increases for 24 months?
@anonymous – no it isn’t. It’s because it’s all made up
