Quickline CEO Sean Royce in Rural UK Field

Broadband ISP Quickline has today claimed to be the “first” company in the UK to offer Standalone 5G (SA) technology, which will be used to bring superfast and ultrafast broadband speeds to rural areas. The first services will offer speeds of up to 450Mbps, but there are “plans” to hit “gigabit capability” by summer 2022.

East Yorkshire-based UK ISP Quickline has just connected homes and businesses in the Lincolnshire village of Lissington to their new gigabit-capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband network, which forms part of their £6.1m state aid supported Building Digital UK (BDUK) contract with the Lincolnshire County Council (LCC).

The Broadband Delivery UK team have just published a new batch of Public Reviews (PR) and Open Market Reviews (OMR) for additional parts of England – mostly covered by Phase 2 of the Government’s £5bn Project Gigabit broadband rollout. Both aim to identify which areas need state aid support for future builds.

The Lincolnshire Police are appealing for witnesses after criminals ripped up 1,000 metres worth of Openreach’s (BT) copper broadband and phone cable from Mareham Lane in Scredington, south of Sleaford. As a result, local homes and businesses in the village are said to have been left cut-off for days.

KCOM, which recently extended their Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) network to cover 250,000 premises across East Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire in England (here), have published their annual accounts and revealed that their total broadband customer base has grown to 139,700 (most are now on fibre, having migrated from copper).
