Ofcom UK has published their 2020 survey of broadband and mobile service quality, call waiting times, complaints and install times among the largest ISPs and mobile operators. Overall TalkTalk attracted the lowest satisfaction for home broadband (78%) again, while Three UK were the same for mobile (89%).

Ofcom has published their latest Q4 2019 consumer complaints data, which reveals that UK ISP Vodafone attracted the most gripes for broadband, while Plusnet were the worst for landline phone and Virgin Media sat on the naughty step for Pay TV. On the flip side Sky (Sky Broadband, Sky TV) attracted the fewest moans from consumers.

The annual Broadband Genie 2020 survey has today presented several awards to Zen Internet and Direct Save Telecom (DST), which saw both UK ISPs scoop wins across multiple categories. In particular Zen scooped the “Best Broadband Provider” accolade among others, while DST won for value and customer care.

Comparison site Broadband Genie has today revealed the winners of their broadband speed awards, which covers different categories across standard, superfast and ultrafast connections. Overall Hyperoptic, a full fibre (FTTP/B) ISP that serves apartment blocks, was named the fastest ISP for both downloading and uploading.

Ofcom has today published their latest Q3 2019 consumer complaints report, which reveals that UK ISP Vodafone attracted the most gripes for fixed line broadband, home phone and mobile (Pay Monthly) service. Meanwhile Virgin Media took the most flak their Pay TV service.

The UK broadband ISP and phone division of the Post Office has today been fined £175,000 after the national telecoms regulator, Ofcom, found that they had overcharged customers, specifically those people with hearing or speech impairments who made telephone calls using a relay service.

The Post Office UK ISP has introduced a further discount on their 38Mbps (average speed) capable “Unlimited Fibre Broadband” (FTTC / VDSL2) and phone package, which drops its monthly price to just £20.90 for the first 12 month contract term (rising to £37 thereafter).

On the flip side Sky Broadband generated the fewest gripes.

The UK ISP division of the Post Office has today reduced the price of their Fibre-to-the-Cabinet (FTTC / VDSL2) based broadband and phone packages. On top of that they’ve also added two new benefits to their packages, which includes a 6 months free weekend call plan and 6 months free F-Secure SAFE (internet security).

On the flip side Sky Broadband (Sky TV) and EE generated the fewest fixed line moans.

Which? has conducted a new “loyalty penalty” study of entry-level “fibre broadband” and phone bundles across 12 of the biggest broadband ISPs in the UK market. This reveals that customers of Virgin Media, TalkTalk and the Post Office are hit by the biggest price hikes (up to 60%) after their initial contract ends.

The Post Office’s UK ISP division has today announced that they’re discounting their ADSL2+ and FTTC based broadband and phone bundles to lower, more competitive pricing across all of their products for new customers. For example, their top 63Mbps package will now become £30 per month instead of £32 (previous discount price).

Ofcom has opened a new probe today to investigate whether or not the Post Office, which among other things also offers broadband ISP and phone services to UK consumers, charged customers the correct amount for telephone calls using relay services (e.g. text relay calls).
