Cable giant Virgin Media, which this week completed the rollout of its 100Mbps (Megabits per second) service to 13 Million UK homes ahead of schedule (originally due to finish mid-2012), has today announced a revamp of its “superfast as standard” broadband, tv and phone services as ‘Collections‘ alongside a six months half price offer.
The business division of UK cable operator Virgin Media (VirginMedia Business) has surveyed 5,000 business owners from companies with 100+ employees and discovered that 21% “needed” more wireless internet access in stores in order to provide “innovative sales offers and marketing promotions” to customers.
Cable operator Virgin Media has won the contract to provide free public wireless internet access (WiFi) at up to 120 tube station platforms in London for “zero cost to the fare or taxpayer“. The “unlimited” service will also deliver live TfL travel information.
Cable ISP Virgin Media UK has started the roll-out of its latest £110m national network upgrade (original news), which at no extra cost (assuming you choose to ignore Virgin’s recent price hike) aims to at least double its customers broadband speeds (except on their ADSL2+ based Virgin.net / Virgin National platform).
Residents of Kingsway Village in Gloucestershire (England, UK), which is home to a population of over 3,000 people, have started a new petition (Kingsway Villagers) that calls for Virgin Media to deploy their cable based superfast broadband, TV and phone services in the area.
