BT's commercial '
Home IT Support' service reports that the majority of calls it received over the festive period were from people having trouble setting up and connecting to
Wi-Fi wireless networks:
Emma Sanderson of BT said: "
This year we received a lot of calls from people struggling to connect to wireless broadband. People were obviously desperate to get their new laptops and handheld multimedia devices up and running on the big day.
Nowadays if you want to enjoy the features on your mobile device or laptop you need to get online via a wireless connection to surf the net or get access to a Wi-Fi network," Sanderson continued.
The
Web-User item also notes that 15% of callers had problems with software, 10% with digital hardware and a further 10% were having trouble with new operating systems (OS's).
