UPDATE: O2 appears to have revealed more official details now, with the packages being as follows:
up to 8Mbps - £7.50 Per Month
up to 16Mbps - £10 Per Month
up to 20Mbps - £15 Per Month
It is not known whether these prices include or exclude VAT, yet non-O2 (i.e. no existing O2 mobile contract) customers will have to pay an additional £10 per month. O2 hopes to have 1,000,000 customers for the service by 2010. Land-line (voice) rental is not a part of the deal.
Roughly 50% of the country will be covered at launch during mid-October.----------------
Thinkbroadband has managed to get their hands on the package details for O2's forthcoming broadband services. The official details are expected to be revealed mid-October but until then the options should pan out as follows:
- Up to 8Mbps: £10 per month
- Up to 16Mbps: £12 per month
- Up to 24Mbps: £15 per month
It's believed that all packages will come with a general Fair Usage Policy (FUP), router, McAfee security and anti-virus software, 0800 support line and 100 free text messages. The service itself will be based off '
Be Unlimiteds' up to 24Mbps ADSL2+ technology.
The price point of £15 per month seems far too cheap by itself and indeed previous details have suggested a 'bundle' of some sort. It may be that certain prices will require the perquisite of a mobile phone contract too, we'll soon know.
