UPDATE: Yet another source has informed us that any redundancies are likely to take place in three waves, with some going at the end of January 2008, the second lot at the end of February and the final batch for the end of March. Nobody could tell us precisely how many jobs are set to go.Sources close to staff working for ISP Tiscali UK have informed ISPreview that the provider may be about to cut a potentially significant number of jobs from its Manchester office in Christie Fields (Chorlton).
The site in question is believed to be where Homecalls (of Caudwell Communications Group) former support, retention and customer services staff were based. Naturally we poked Tiscali's spokesperson, Jody Haskayne, for a little comment:
"
Tiscali is still in the process of evaluating its plans for the alignment of our business with the new Pipex acquisitions in consultation with employees. We cannot comment on speculation where decisions have not been made. However, where we can make decisions we are moving forward quickly. We have already confirmed that the Sligo customer services operation is to be retained."
It's understood that a key meeting was held yesterday and that an official announcement is expected early next week, possibly Monday. Typically all rumours should be taken with a pinch of salt until confirmed, even where the sources have past credibility.
