Thinkbroadband has spotted an interesting news item on the
EDP24 news website, which states that residents of Drymere (Norfolk) can now finally receive broadband ADSL services thanks to work carried out by BT:
BT has said the work will benefit everybody in Drymere and the reason it took months to complete was that the company had to put in a completely new line between Swaffham and the hamlet.
BT spokesman Paul Hayward said that the line connecting Drymere to the telephone exchange in Swaffham had been too long: Long telephone lines can be an issue in rural areas with regards to getting a stable broadband connection. Because of the concentration of customers in this area that are served on a long line from the Swaffham Exchange, Openreach took the decision that it was viable from a business perspective to undertake this remedial work.
He said that Openreach did a lot of work to plan the new route to significantly reduce the length of the cable from the exchange and allow people in the hamlet to receive broadband.
