AOL's former technical security analyst, Tim Pickett, has urged ISP's to monitor their networks and do more to prevent Denial of Service (DoS) attacks from getting through:
"ISPs should be monitoring what's going through their networks, more should be done to tackle the problem on the ISP side."
DoS attacks typically emanate from Trojan infected computers that can then be hijack by hackers and turned into zombie machines for malicious usage. These attack's are designed to flood networks with vast amounts of useless traffic, forcing them offline.
Pickett's comments follow similar remarks from VeriSign's chief security officer, Ken Silva, whom fears that such attacks could one day bring down the Internet unless they're stopped.
