The popular space based massively multiplayer (MMORPG) game,
EVE-Online, has released a major new free update to its community, introducing a huge graphics overhaul and many additional changes.
Unfortunately the update, which was supposed to have been a celebration of the games continued success, has flopped because one of the updates would wipe the
boot.ini file on Microsoft Windows based machines:
Users who have upgraded their EVE clients from Classic Graphics Content to Premium Graphics Content have their boot.ini file deleted. For users facing this issue, we recommend users DO NOT reboot their computers until this issue has been resolved, otherwise a potential reinstall of the operating system may be needed.
The boot.ini file typically holds some key boot settings and most crucially the locations of any installed Windows operating systems, without it many users have found themselves unable to fully restart their PC's.
Naturally the offending update has been removed until it can be fixed. Further advise is being handed out
here, although those that have been affected probably aren't able to read it.
