Reports from VirginMedia's broadband ADSL (Virgin.net) customers inform us that an adjustment to the providers Traffic Management system may be to blame for at least part of the problems being experienced.
Nearly all of this weeks complaints echo issues with speed and latency, especially among VM's online gaming community. It's know that the ISP does manage '
peak time' traffic for its heaviest ADSL users, although a recent adjustment to the system appears to have gone wrong, causing it to affect even casual surfers, gamers and non-P2P applications.
Some customers report that the ISP's support department has owned up to the issue and claim to be "
working on a fix", although as usual the Virgin.net '
Service Status' page makes no mention of there being any problems.
Details are thin on the ground and getting a constructive response out of the ISP has proven difficult. Hardly a good start for an operator thats attempting to
refocus on broadband.
