In a special promotional offer to all users,
Square Mile International is offering a FREE 512Kbps wireless broadband subscription at all 45 Square Mile marinas across the UK:
If users need a faster connection, they can take out a 1Mb subscription for £4.99 per month (which is 20 times faster than dial-up) or they can add thousands of Wi-Fi hotspots all over the UK to their marina subscription for a total of £9.99 per month.
Dominic Killinger, Managing Director of Square Mile explained: Our concentration this year is to grow user numbers. Working in conjunction with the marina operators, we are offering the service FREE until 31st March 2006, enabling everybody to experience the convenience of wireless broadband. We are confident that once new users have tried the service, without needing to use their mobiles or wires to connect, the benefits will be obvious.
Existing users include boat owners who use the service to check weather reports, tidal information and race details, as well as all the normal uses of the Internet, but also businesses based around the marinas, continued Dominic. With many more people trying it out during 2005 and the subsequent increased user base in 2006, we fully intend to reduce subscription levels to under £10 per month as a direct response to end user demands.
The service is being provided by Square Mile International and is the first step in their plans to bring wireless broadband to marinas worldwide. Currently 45 UK marinas are offering this service and many more in the Mediterranean and around the world plan to offer this facility through the Square Mile reseller network. Working in conjunction with BOZII, the 1Mb connection plus inland roaming subscription gives boat users access to over 3500 hotspots across the UK, including the Square Mile marina hotspots, with one bill and one subscription.
These hotspots include those from BT Openzone, ReadytoSurf, Surf and Sip, Iyzone, Canova Wireless and Net-Near-U, which are located in marinas, airports, train stations, service stations, hotels, coffee shops, football stadiums and conference centres.
