The DTI has reported on the latest research from Analysys, which blames slow higher-speed (2Mbps+) UK broadband uptake on insufficient government investment and "
a national culture resistant to using high-technology":
The report outlines three reasons the UK has not enjoy greater broadband take-up:
* Insufficient government investment into the broadband infrastucture
* A lower proportion of multi-dwelling units
* A national culture resistant to using high-technology, and uncomfortable with new technology.
Other results from the survey include:
* British citizens lead the way in online spending
* UK businesses top the list of countries using wireless networks
* Irish businesses are the greatest users of Voice over IP telephony, followed by South Korea, Japan and the UK
* The French are most likely to download TV, video and movie clips
The report is based on an analysis of 11 developed countries - Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, UK, US, Australia, Ireland, South Korea and Sweden.http://www.egovmonitor.com
