BT's Easter Broadband Tips
Posted: 22nd Mar, 2005 By: MarkJ
BT has issued some tips on how best to save time by using that swanky broadband connection to the best of its ability this Easter:
1. Fill your Easter Bunny basket
Most major department stores and food retailers offer online shopping with delivery straight to your front door. Not only does this let you avoid high street chaos, you can also stock up on all the food, drinks and chocolate needed for the public holiday. Alternatively, you could search a range of boutique stores to get the perfect chocolate-free gift, or order a post-Easter detox kit in anticipation!
2. Get hopping along
Were you hoping to take a break over Easter, but thought you left it too late? The increasing popularity of the internet means that its never been easier to book a last minute deal. You can research destinations, check availability, book flights and get the best prices all in a few minutes.
3. Easter Entertainment
With so much going on in the UK over Easter it is hard to know how to spend your time. Logging on to tourism websites lets you research everything you need to know about events in your local area.
4. One a penny, two a penny, hot cross buns
If you are planning to get creative in the kitchen this Easter, why not research new and unusual recipes online. Alternatively, you could stick to old favourites and download hot cross bun recipes.
5. Keep the kids out of your hair
Children love Easter time, but its often hard to keep them busy over the two-week school break. Why not make the most of the thousands of Easter-themed craft and game sites designed for children? Letting them play around with your supervision on child-safe sites will keep them entertained and give you a break from all the holiday hype
6. Burrow in your nest egg
If youre the type who would rather stay at home this Easter, the increasing range of online content downloadable from the internet means you can have access to a vast range of music, TV programmes, and movies all at the click of a button
7. Marvellous memories
When the holiday period is all over and you want to keep your Easter memories safe, why not use an online photo library tool? Found on portals, such as BT Yahoo! Broadband (www.bt.com/getbroadband), photo library tools allow users to display their images on a made-to-measure site of their own. By forwarding the weblink, you can share long weekend snapshots with friends and family all over the world.
8. Stay in contact with your Easter Bunny
The internet is transforming the way people communicate. For those who want to wish overseas friends and family a happy Easter, email and instant messaging means staying in touch couldnt be easier. The rise of Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) has also meant people can have interactive conversations via webcams. Ideal for long-distance relationships or those travelling abroad, VoIP products, such as BT Communicator with Yahoo! Messenger, are a fast, personal and cost effective way to stay in touch over Easter.
The rapid take-up of broadband into UK homes will enable many of us to have a hassle free Easter period, said Gavin Patterson, MD Consumer and Group Marketing for BT Retail, BT Retail. We no longer have to queue in shopping centres to purchase gifts, or spend hours at travel agents booking holidays.
As a result we can spend more time with our family and friends and make the most of our holiday period this is just another example of how broadband can enhance the lifestyles of UK customers, he concluded.
Somehow I think my Easter will involve sleep, alcohol, more sleep, some sleep and a little bit of sleep. Too many early mornings.
