C&W To Double Bulldog's DSL Cover

Posted: 26th May, 2005 By: MarkJ
Cable & Wireless (C&W), which has already unbundled (LLU) 400 BT exchanges via ISP Bulldog, is to further extend its broadband xDSL coverage by investing in an additional 400 on top (800).

The news came as C&W announced their results for the year ended 31st March 2005. Their accelerated rollout plan will see 600 exchanges unbundled by March 2006, reaching 800 during the first half of 2006/7.

“We are also seeing some excellent groundwork in network development. A prime example is our investment in Bulldog, the UK broadband operator, we acquired last May. Bulldog gives us network access across the ‘last mile’ to the customer, enabling us to offer an end-to-end service. Building our customer base in this way is an important goal as we embark upon investment of £190 million over three years in our UK IP-based Next Generation Network (‘NGN’) and systems."
