BT's chief executive for wireless broadband, Chris Clark, has stated that the operator doesn't oppose free hotspots. The remark follows an earlier news item announcing a free service in London, which is on BT's own turf, so to speak:
"Free access doesn't touch us," he said. "It's not a market we're going after. We're after the business market and in a lot of cases business laptops are locked out of such hotspots for good security reasons."The
VNUNet item notes that some areas of the USA have already seen legal disputes between free and commercial providers, which have hampered the fledgling technology.
