V Two One (
V21) has launched an original take on broadband delivery by limiting usage to hours instead of data consumption. For £12.50 per month you get a 512Kbps speed package restricted to 60 hours of usage (1p a minute thereafter):
The packages will make a radical change to the way that broadband is sold. Both account types have monthly hourly usage limits with the option to exceed those limitations.

Famous for setting internet connection pricing standards, V Two Ones Managing Director, Steve Kaye, said: Quite simply we have launched this package because every few days we hear of customers of other ISPs complaining to us because they have been billed for high usage over and above their package limitations.
Steve added Customers do not understand what they get with a 1 or 2 gig bandwidth limit, but they would understand how long 60 or even 100 hours a month gives them. If our customers on these packages exceed the stated limits we only charge them at 1 pence a minute! That is cheaper than you using your telephone to call your next door neighbour typically.
However if any customer does exceed the limits of these accounts 3 times in three consecutive months then we will change that customers account to a more suitable one to save them money.

On the other hand and in the sense of added choice, the lightest surfers may find it to be a good first step into broadband.
