UPDATE: Despite how F2S's press release may appear, this is still under BT's IPStream Max TRIAL. ISP Freedom2Surf has expanded the availability of its 8Mbps broadband ADSL service, which follows a "
successful" BT IPStream Max trial in December 2005. However we're also hearing more from customers having problems with F2Ss service:
--------------------------
The 8Mbit service will initially be available from 53 exchanges across the UK, and it is hoped that this will rise to 5,300 exchanges by 31st March 2006.
Existing freedom2surf customers will be able to regrade to the 8Mbit Connect service by paying a one off fee of £15. New customers or users wishing to migrate to freedom2surf will be able to take advantage of the extended service from only £14.99
Richard Manly, sales and marketing director for freedom2surf commented: "The continued expansion of our 8Mbit service across the UK marks a further step in our aim to offer high quality, fastest possible broadband for consumers, irrespective of where they live. Consumers will now be able to benefit from services such as VoIP, as well as faster download and upload speeds."--------------------------
Unfortunately a growing number of Freedom2Surf's customers have highlighted a number of concerns to us, many of which are centred on the providers 2 and 8Mbps product(s).
Slow speeds, poor customer support and delayed upgrades seem to be common factors. Most point to the problems starting shortly after Pipex took over.
