The International Federation of Phonographic Industries (IFPI) announced today that legal UK single track music downloads had hit 16.9m for the first three quarters of 2005. This compares with 2.7m during 2004, no doubt boosted by faster and more affordable broadband services. Illegal downloads dropped by 10% between 2003 (1.1bn) and 2005 (900m).
