Welcome to the first draft of ISPreview's new design, we hope you like it. Typically there are a few important things to mention and readers should note that it will steadily evolve over the next few years, much as ISPr1 did following its original launch.
Firstly there are still some elements that I'm not completely happy with, such as aspects of the pages 'Header', more specifically its logo. This should be considered a place holder until something better is created.
Next we have the Reviews, News Archives and ISP Listings system, which unlike most pages, haven't changed quite so much. Simply, we saw little point in spending extra time fully re-designing them when theyre soon due for major change or replacement anyway.
Meanwhile the About and Archive links have been shifted from the top to the bottom of our page, with Contacts replacing About at the top. The forums integration into our new style is not yet finished and needs tweaking; some may also notice that the initial style is no longer high resolution (unbound from ISPrs physical page width). Members of the forum with super-res monitors can change to a special High Res style by doing the following:
GOTO (In the forum): User CP > Edit Options
Now scroll to the bottom where the last box is titled Forum Skin. All you need do here is to select High Resolution from the drop down box.
Readers may also notice that the Top 10 page now only includes ADSL and Unmetered dialup with a full listing of 10 providers, whiles the other categories merely show Top ISP. This is because we saw little point in having a full Top 10 listing for categories where 10 ISPs didnt exist or there werent enough reviews that looks ugly.
Otherwise thats it; ISPr2 should be more readable thanks to a larger standard font and formatting. It should also load a little faster and eat less bandwidth and CPU from our server, well thats the theory =). After working on it for so long its become too second nature for me to tell what first impressions you might all have. Still, take a look around and enjoy.. I hope.
PS
Im sure some will appreciate that front page news is now back to a Full display without any of those irritating [Read More] links =).Feedback here:
