BT has launched the '
Internet Rangers Awards', a competition designed to celebrate the role that young people play in teaching older generations to use the Internet:
Research highlights that nearly a third of parents and grandparents, 32%, have been taught or encouraged to surf the Internet by a young person aged between 13 to 16 years. BT set up Internet Rangers to recognise and encourage young people to keep up the good work.
With many young people already performing the role of an Internet Ranger, the new look website,
http://www.btinternetrangers.co.uk , contains tools and activities that make being an internet teacher even more fun. The BT Internet Rangers Awards is asking young people to share their experience of helping older people get online.
The ten best stories will each win a laptop, and the very best story, the BT Internet Ranger of the Year, will also win a VIP trip to the worlds fastest Internet café at Goonhilly Satellite Earth Station in Cornwall for them and their family. Deadline for entries is December 1, 2006.
Clever idea, but do you get bonus points for having them signup to one of BT's broadband services =)? Were sure the prospect of a VIP trip to Goonhillys Internet café is a riveting one.
