The Sunday Telegraph newspaper has reported that
Orange UK (France Telecom) is unsurprisingly planning a push into the converged services market. Details are thin on the ground, although some form of TV, broadband and mobile phone product is expected.
The market for bundled services is growing at a rapid pace and
Orange's choice to enter was entirely expected.
Virgin Media, BSkyB and BT have already introduced their own take on triple and quad-play packages. Eric Abensur, overseer of
Oranges home services, states:
When you buy content you should be able to watch that content wherever you want to, whether that is on your TV, on your PC or on your mobile.
Orange will reportedly develop the services in-house as opposed to buying from third party sources, which is probably the reason why their launch window is so far off (Q3-2007). More when we have it.
