ISP Freedom2Surf has launched a new 'plug & play' Internet telephony service (freedom2phone), which only requires an F2S broadband connection. The new service offers unlimited free telephone calls and messaging over the Internet:
freedom2phone comprises everything customers need to get connected. There is now no longer a need to buy a separate VoIP phone or adaptor as all freedom2phone requires is one simple box which includes a Voice-over IP enabled ADSL router as well as a built in Wi-Fi access point. Unlike other Internet telephony services, freedom2phone does not require a PC or headset, just a freedom2surf broadband connection. freedom2phone is quick and easy to set up simply plug the VoIP router into the ADSL wall socket, then plug your standard phone handset into the router and you are ready to go.
freedom2phone is available for a one-off charge of £79.99 and the cost of a freedom2surf broadband connection. Consumers can make and receive calls completely free of charge between VoIP phones anywhere in the world. They will also be able to make major savings on call rates to both domestic and international landlines as well as mobiles with 10% off BTs UK calls and 40% off BTs International calls. Current freedom2surf customers can upgrade to the service for a charge of £79.99 (the cost of the router).
freedom2phone customers will also be allocated an extra phone line for their Internet calls, an 0845 number, ideal for families and non-geographic home workers. Existing BT numbers are unaffected so users can simply switch between their landline and calls over the Internet at the touch of a button.

VoIP) products are still rather niche.
