ADSLGuide reports that further details about BT's IPTV (Internet TV) hardware have been released today. The box itself is set to cost around £70 and include an 80GB hard disk for video (PVR) storage.
The kit is still being targeted for a late summer launch, although a finalised brand name for the product has yet to be announced. Sadly two big concerns keep cropping up:
1) Will the service only work on BT Retail ISP's (Yahoo!, BTBB), or will it be open to all ADSL providers?
2) Given that even
VoIP services seem to suffer at the hands of heavy handed broadband usage caps, how on earth is Video-on-Demand (VoD) expected to cope?
