I.T industry lobby group, Intellect, has teamed up with the Broadband Stakeholders Group (BSG) to delay the European Commission's (EC) review of broadcast legislation. It's feared that the review could impact emerging online content:
Anthony Walker, director for the knowledge economy at Intellect, said his members were worried that the proposals will stifle growth of the content and new media market in Europe. He said: "New audio-visual content services, made possible through innovation in digital technology and the internet, should be given time to evolve and develop rather than being shackled by premature and unnecessary regulation intervention by the EU"Both groups hope to shift the EC into restarting the consultation process along with a new impact study.
