UPDATED: Removed/corrected some info. The Professional Golfers Association (PGA) has teamed up with Viatel to launch its own broadband service, similar to the products offered by some football clubs (Chelsea FC etc.):
It believes there is a real demand for such specialised broadband services.
"There is a shift towards branded services, in the broadband and mobile world. It creates consumer interest by associating services with brands they trust," said Steve Best, chief technology officer of Viatel.
The PGA Broadband service will be available for sale through 4,500 golf clubs around the UK. Viatel estimates there is a potential market of over five million golfers.The
BBC News Online item reports that content, such as video news and web chats, will also be included in the package.
The package is expected to launch sometime around mid-November, although exact details (price etc.) are not yet known.
