UK ISP 186k has purchased yet another rival in the shape of Mailbox Internet, which is reported to have cost around the £2m mark:
Mailbox - a finalist in the best business broadband category of the UK's "ISPA" awards for two years on the trot - is one of the UK's oldest ISPs.
Based in Fulham it employs 16 people and provides broadband services to around 10,000 business users in London and the south of England.
The acquisition is part of 186k's strategy to expand its business by buying established ISPs. Within the last year or so it has snapped up Northern-based Elite Internet Services and acquired a major stake in Middlesborough-based Onyx Internet. It's unclear whether the acquisition of Mailbox will end 186k's buying spree, although consolidation remains a hot prospect for those willing to invest in such a competitive industry.
