One of our readers (Mel) has spotted that Sky appears to have introduced a new one-off £30 broadband set-up charge to its "Max" (16Mbps) package.

Curiously, at the time of writing, their website still promotes "free" activation (here), yet those attempting to sign-up have reportedly had the ISP attempt to levy it against them. To further confuse matters their comparison page (here) has a possibly related and rather odd clause in the small print:


Sky themselves have reportedly been referring to this as an "installation" charge, yet the wording states it as a “set-up” fee, while the extra costs dialogue on the very same comparison page drops down with a £0 in “activation”. Confused?
