One of our readers (Mel) has
spotted that Sky appears to have introduced a new one-off £30 broadband set-up charge to its "Max" (16Mbps) package.
Curiously, at the time of writing, their website still promotes "free" activation (
here), yet those attempting to sign-up have reportedly had the ISP attempt to levy it against them. To further confuse matters their comparison page (
here) has a possibly related and rather odd clause in the small print:
One-off £30 standard set-up cost applies when you take up Sky products before 14 September.
Sky themselves have reportedly been referring to this as an "
installation" charge, yet the wording states it as a
set-up fee, while the extra costs dialogue on the very same comparison page drops down with a £0 in
activation. Confused?
