BT's latest results report that the groups 'Wholesale' division has managed to deliver a total of 11.2 million broadband connections (DSL and
LLU). The figure breaks down into 2.4m unbundled lines and 8.8m direct from BT.
There were 459,000 additional connections in the first quarter, which is seasonally the slowest of the year:
BT Retails share of the net additions in the quarter was 38 per cent and it is expected to maintain its position as the UKs number one retail broadband provider.
Unfortunately BT has chosen not to provide an exact figure for its own retail broadband customers, thus we can only make a potentially incorrect calculated guess of 174,420 (60,000+ coming from the Brightview acquisition). This, added to BT's existing total of 3,660,000 should give us 3,834,420.
