By: MarkJ - 11 July, 2007 (8:57 AM)

BSkyB has issued its latest trading update to 30th June 2007, which saw the groupís broadband (ADSL) service adding 259,000 new customers; the total now stands at an impressive 716,000:

James Murdoch, Chief Executive said: ďOur transformation continues to gather pace. Today we are adding new customers at the fastest rate since analogue switch-off; we are adding more broadband customers than any other provider; and we are the only major residential telephony provider growing its customer base."

Sky has also managed to unbundled (LLU) 1,150 exchanges, which gives it 70% coverage of UK households; achieved six months ahead of plan. Unfortunately Skyís broadband service has had the odd problem and we continue to see the occasional complaint about poor speeds.

Regardless, Sky has reiterated its 2010 forecast of aiming to have at least 3 million broadband customers.
