Orange has teamed up with retail IT giant PC World to offer new broadband subscribers nothing less than a "FREE" laptop! Naturally there's a catch, you have to join for two years and the laptop itself is.. well.. read on:
Customers who sign up to a
two-year broadband connection with
Orange at PC World from this Thursday, will be given a new laptop worth over £300. Customers must sign up for the
Orange broadband contract at one of over 150 PC World stores nationwide. Tens of thousands of laptops are being made available to support the promotion.
It's not clear who manufacturers the laptop, only that they will come with a minimum spec of a Celeron processor (speed unknown), 256MB RAM and a 15.4" LCD monitor. Hardly earth shattering specs and not really enough for running the latest Microsoft Windows Vista operating system, but then it is "FREE".
Unfortunately "FREE" PC offers in the ISP industry have had somewhat of a shaky run; usually hitting supply problems as such deals can become very popular. ISP Redten Internet suffered a similar issue earlier in the year (
here), while others in the more historic past have stumbled with financial difficulties.
Hopefully
Orange has made sure its prepared for such a situation and has ample supply ready. The only other caveat is that you have to join
Orange.
