BT's 2Mbps Wireless Service Trials

BT Business Symmetric Broadband is a brand new 2Mbps (both ways) wireless product costing £199 per month (could go up) and is based off the IEEE 802.16 standard. Initial trials have already started, with the Slough trading estate being its first location.
A further three unspecified trial locations are being prepared. The technology core is not yet WiMAX class, however BT claims that the elements are already there for a later upgrade:
"We are offering exclusivity in specific areas to resellers for six-month periods," said Rocky Mahajan, BT Indirect Channel's general manager of strategy and business development.
"We want distributors and partners to tell us why they should have an exclusive deal. It is open to anyone."
Unsurprisingly, faster options are being planned for the future. More @ VNUNet.
