BTOpenzone, a UK Wi-Fi Hotspot operator, has expanded its global roaming agreements to make 20,000 wireless hotspots across eleven countries available to its subscribers:
BT customers can now enjoy Wi-Fi access at up to 20,000 hotspots across eleven countries, following a series of new roaming agreements with four major international wireless operators. The announcement was made at an industry roundtable in San Francisco held by the Wireless Broadband Alliance (WBA), of which BT is a member.
Other participants in the international WBA launch include StarHub (Singapore), T-Mobile (Austria, Czech Republic, Germany, Netherlands, UK, US), Telstra (Australia) and Telecom Italia (Italy).
Customers of BT Openzone, the UKs leading Wi-Fi provider, will now be able to take their Wi-Fi subscription to the participating WBA carrier member countries and enjoy a consistent, global, wireless broadband experience with access to information, communications and entertainment at up to 20,000 hotspot locations from North America to Asia-Pacific to Europe. This announcement builds on BT Openzones existing roaming agreements with T-Mobile earlier this month as well as The Cloud (UK), Telia Homerun (Sweden), Sonera Homerun (Finland) and Airpath (US).
Customers will be able to benefit from these international roaming arrangements with other WBA members at no additional charge through the remainder of 2004. Prices for international roaming in 2005 and beyond will be determined at a later date.
