Zen Internet has today begun offering customers the ability to download Prevxs consumer host intrusion prevention software (Prevx Home v2.0) completely free. The application protects against hackers, Trojans, spyware and Internet worms:
Zen Internet has today signed an agreement to offer Prevx Home as a free download to protect its 40,000+ users from the increasing number of attacks bypassing traditional anti-virus software and firewalls. The agreement which may come as a wake-up call to other service providers offers users protection from joining the growing number of Internet connected PCs attacked and hijacked by hackers and fraudsters.
Zen Internet will give users the opportunity to download the recently launched Prevx Home 2.0 intrusion prevention system for free. The updated product feeds attack data back to Prevx anonymously, allowing the collation of a real-time global view of Internet attacks as they take place.
The decision by Zen Internet comes because even though many PC users now run firewall and anti-virus software, they are still vulnerable to attacks by Internet worms such as Sasser, as well as the installation of Trojans, malware and other spyware. This means individuals using the Internet, on any dial-up or broadband connection, are becoming unwilling victims of identity theft, can suffer the installation of rogue dialers, or have their machines hijacked to launch DDoS attacks or send spam.
Equally, ISPs find their bandwidth is under increased strain from illicit traffic and, when there is a major worm attack, can suffer severe service disruption.
