The Equality of Access Board (EAB), an independent body set up to scrutinise BT's organisation, has hailed many of the improvements made since Ofcoms Telecoms Review. However, local loop unbundling (
LLU) was one of the areas singled out for being "
at risk":
The EAB has flagged up two areas of concern. One concerns local loop unbundling (LLU) and the other Wholesale Line Rental (WLR). In both cases the EAB says that the work involved is complex and challenging and has warned that the delivery of fit for purpose products "is at risk".
That said, the EAB remains convinced that there is the desire within BT to deliver these systems on time. The Register reminds us that there has recently been a great deal of scepticism thrown at BT, much of it focusing on their ability to unhook the local loop as required.
