ADSLGuide carries word that ISP UK Online has sent out e-mails informing customers of an update to their Fair Usage Policy, among other things:
The changes we've made include helping you understand what happens when you move house and also letting you know about our Fair Usage Policy http://www.ukonline.net/fup which will make sure that you always have the best possible service by us treating every customer fairly.
The terms will apply to you from the date of this email and you will be bound by them. You should read them in full and you can do so at http://www.ukonline.net/terms.
If you feel that you have been disadvantaged by the changes you have the right to terminate your agreement with us by notifying us at customer.care@ukonline.net within thirty days of the date of this e-mail. Otherwise we will assume that you are happy with the changes and agree to comply with the updated Terms and Conditions. It's good to see an ISP offering users a chance to voice their concerns. Quite a few providers wouldn't even bother, which has become somewhat of a legal grey area.
Regardless of UKO's now less specific FUP, we note that the comparison page still lists "
Usage restrictions?" on all packages as "
None - unlimited downloads".
Some may prefer the FUP ideal, although we'd much rather know where the limit is at then have to spend each day second guessing what it could be. Of course then providers couldnt get away with using the word unlimited so much, could they?
