The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) has upheld a complaint against
Bulldog after one of its 8Mbps broadband ADSL adverts failed to clearly state the packages full pricing:
BT and a member of the public objected that the claim "up to 8 meg broadband only £9.75* £9.75 a month fixed for as long as you are with us" was misleading, because new customers had to pay a minimum of £10.50 a month for Bulldog's telephony service in addition to £9.75 a month for the broadband service.Naturally the ASA "
concluded that the ad was misleading" and requested an amendment for future promotions. Meanwhile another complaint regarding 8Mbps availability was not upheld:
We were satisfied from the information provided by Bulldog that up to 8 meg broadband was available for the price quoted in the ad and considered that the ad made clear the restrictions on the availability of that service. We did not object on that point.
