ISP 'Be' has successfully unbundled its 100th London exchange, meaning that over 1.885 million lines (54%) in the capital can deliver their up to 24Mbps ADSL2+ service. The provider has a total of 133 exchanges across the UK and is aiming for 156 by end of May 2006:
News of the 100th London exchange comes hot on the heels of Bes launch in both Birmingham and Manchester. Part of Bes national roll-out programme, the launch of the two cities adds over seven hundred and fifty thousand lines to the Be network, with 485,000 lines now activated in Birmingham and 275,000 lines in Manchester.
Since launching last summer, Be has continually raised the bar for the UK broadband market by offering the latest technology, which allows the fastest broadband speeds currently available, at highly competitive prices. Starting from just £14 per month and with every member receiving a free Be Box wireless router, Be has the most competitive broadband products in the UK.
Just one of Bes 24 meg lines can stream two High Definition TV (HDTV) channels, plus three or four standard TV or Video-on-Demand channels, and still have enough bandwidth for general surfing or making calls over the internet using VoIP.
To celebrate the 100th London exchange going live, Londoners can enjoy up to 24 meg unlimited broadband for just £20 per month forever (reduced from £24 per month and including free connection). Customers simply need a BT telephone line that is connected to a London exchange in which Be has installed its equipment.
