One of our readers informs us that
Bulldog has sent out an e-mail to customers informing them of a new referral scheme (have a friend signup and gain £50). Sadly the ISP appears to have issued at least one letter with somebody else's personal details on.
The e-mail reads:
Dear XXXXXXXX
Theres never been a better time to recommend Bulldog. Whether its for superfast broadband performance, the great value phone service or simply a big package for a small cost - we think Bulldog offers a lot to everyone.
And right now were offering an extra special reward to customers who recommend Bulldog.
£50 to you
Tell your friends about Bulldog and if they sign up to any of our broadband and phone services by May 15th 2006, well pay both you and your friend a £50 credit each.
and £50 to your friends!
Taking part is easy! Tell your friends about Bulldog and give them your customer reference, thats BDOL bdolXXXXXX [Removed BDOL]. They can sign up by calling 0800 056 6745 or at www.bulldogbroadband.com. If they sign up over the phone, theyll be asked How did you hear about Bulldog? They simply say they were Referred by a Bulldog customer, and provide your customer BDOL reference. If they sign up on the website theyll see the same question and just have to select the option Referred by a Bulldog customer and type in your BDOL in the space provided. Its that easy!
There are no limits to the level of rewards you can earn. Just spread the word and give your friends your BDOL number. Alternatively, go to www.bulldoglounge.com/referyourfriends.asp and well do it for you with a simple email message.Sounds wonderful unless, like the individual that received the above message, you receive the message containing another persons name and BDOL number. Two key pieces of information used in many of
Bulldog's security checks.
It's not known how many other customers have received a message with somebody else's detail, although hopefully anybody that does will let
Bulldog know.
