The latest research from ISP Eclipse Internet found that a majority of people moving house consider their broadband connection more important than curtains or even a microwave when settling into a new home:
With 55% of respondents saying that it was the days after moving that were more stressful than the actual moving day, the research investigated what the main stresses were in setting up home.
The survey of over 1700 respondents, conducted with tickbox.net, found that they said trying to get the little things such as sorting out the utilities the most annoying part of moving house and taking the most time:
Just over 47% of respondents said that getting their Internet connection took the longest time of any of the utilities to get sorted.
Over 70% of house-movers have to wait more than seven days to get their Internet connection up and running once moved in.
Appallingly, 21% of respondents said they had to wait over a month before their ISP had sorted out their Internet connection.

The survey highlighted how the nations dependence on the Internet has now over-taken simple things like the need for privacy by curtains or the ease of the microwave.
32% of people could not live without their curtains and only 8.5% could not live without their microwave. This compares to a staggering 92% of people who said that in the first month following moving into a new home, the one thing they wouldnt be able to live without was their broadband connection.
