Having just posted the largest corporate loss in UK history, Vodafone has quickly moved to set out its vision for future improvement, outlining the resale of unbundled (
LLU) broadband services as being among the ideals.
Interestingly the news lends weight to earlier reports that the operator had allegedly been considering a bid for
Bulldog or Tiscali. Today's announcement followed the same thread, albeit to include mention that a supplier had not yet been selected.
Thomas Geitner, head of Vodafone's new businesses and innovation unit, told analysts that while the company would initially resell DSL broadband, it could look to unbundle telephone exchanges over time in certain markets.
The reselling move means that we probably shouldn't expect Vodafone to be snapping up an ISP just yet, although that could change.
