Reports from an Italian newspaper (Il Sole 24 Ore) claim that BT may indeed be interested in buying Tiscali UK, despite having only just secured a deal for PlusNet:
BT is believed to have started informal talks with the investment bank Merrill Lynch to discuss the acquisition, it said.
Tiscali has once again denied that its UK business is up for sale, yet appeared to contradict itself a moment later by stating that the situation was fluid and some Tiscali managers would be open to selling.
It's by no means the first time such speculation has surrounded the ISP, with a similar report surfacing just over one month ago -
