RedKite has launched a 20Mbps WiMax based broadband wireless service in Hemel Hempstead's business park and the surrounding area:
By using RedKite, wireless connectivity can be delivered via the roof providing a diverse route to the Internet in the event of a cabled outage at ground level.
Not only does RedKite offer a true level of resiliency it can be used in conjunction with existing cabled solutions to deliver increased bandwidth. The RedKite 'Wired + Wireless' strategy makes use of all the bandwidth available to provide optimum performance. An additional advantage of this approach is that both lines are working all of the time. Many companies we have worked with have a 'spare' line as back up in case their primary service fails. However, all too often technical problems are found with the back-up just when it is most needed.
Community Internet uses Wired + Wireless connectivity for everyday communications, with automatic fail-over in the event that either service is disrupted and automatic load balance once both services are available again.
