ISP Claranet has won the second annual
ISPA Charity Cup, which is a five-a-side football tournament for members of the UK Internet Service Providers Association:
Fourteen teams battled it out for the coveted trophy, with all proceeds going to charity.
Claranet defeated defending champions AOL in a thrilling final. The game was goalless at fulltime and had to be decided by a penalty shoot out. Claranet held their nerve to win and claim the title.
The hero of the day was Claranet's keeper, Jason Keane the Business Operations Director, who saved four penalties and converted the crucial spot kick to spark wild celebrations.
Claranet were awarded the trophy by charity beneficiaries net2work, which help the poor and marginalised of the world gain access to the best resources, teaching, work and study opportunities available.
Plans are afoot to parade the cup during Claranet's tenth anniversary party, to be held in London next month. The event will celebrate the company's success in growing from a dial-up Internet access provider in the UK to a multi-national IT service provider across Europe.
It's a shame they haven't put as much effort into modernising their broadband packages, but otherwise - nice work chaps.
