Residents of Gwytherin near Llangernyw in Conwy have threatened to take British Telecom (BT) to court unless it can resolve the areas woeful broadband and phone connectivity problems.
The threat was made on Monday at a meeting with
Ofcom Wales director Rhodri Williams. Villagers complained of repeated breakdowns in the areas phone service and a lack of broadband, both of which have apparently plagued Gwytherin for years. Speaking to
The Dailpost, Farmer Emlyn Williams, 60, said:
"This has run for years now and still they are not fulfilling their service, it is forcing villagers to become more militant to force them to act on this because they have been dragging their feet for years.
We are talking about 20 or even 30 villagers acting together on this to launch a court summons in the small claims court to get back money from BT. We pay for a service and we are not getting that service."
BT claims to be working hard towards a resolution for the area and has allegedly made a new proposal, although they haven't said what it is.
