Business parks in the North Yorkshire region may soon be able to benefit from a faster broadband network at a fraction of the cost thanks to a new offering funded by Yorkshire Forward, the regional development agency.
Yorkshire Forward has supported a new initiative by NYnet, opening up its high capacity fibre network to offer high speed broadband and Internet services to business parks across North Yorkshire.
Robert Ling, Business Improvement Manager for Yorkshire Forward said: The NYnet infrastructure can deliver high capacity, resilient and cost effective broadband to business parks throughout North Yorkshire, which have previously had issues with speed and network capacity.
NYnet provides businesses with an attractive incentive to relocate to the regions business parks and offices. There are over 130 business parks and managed workspaces in North Yorkshire that will now benefit from the NYnet technology and this will have a positive impact on the regions economy.
The first business park to receive the NYnet connection is the newly completed Woodend Creative Workspace in Scarborough. The £4.8m home for creative industries has installed high speed broadband throughout the centres 52 hi-tech managed workspaces to meet the specific demands of the digital, media and creative sector.
According to the latest Yorkshire Forward statistics, 95% of businesses in North Yorkshire have access to the Internet, however only 84% of these have a broadband connection.
